Definitely call or stop by Wee Wonders to get a feel for the program. Slots fill up quickly since the program is small (18 pre-schoolers, I think), but often there is a slot or two available.
Every Friday, we receive a newsletter detailing all the activities that were worked on and describing events for the next week. Weekly activities are often calender-driven (ie learning about 4th of July, Winter, etc) and center around that theme. Daily activities involve play in the different centers: Computer center, dramatic play area, art center, science center, math center, etc. There is also a playground outside where they play before and after lunch/nap, weather permitting. Each child is assigned a "job" at the beginning of the week, ranging from Lunch Helper to Attendence Taker to Lights Off Monitor. There is a letter of the week (sometimes color or shape), and on the assigned show-and-tell day, the child brings an item that begins with that letter (or of that color/shape). One plus that I like is that children work on recognizing and writing their own name.
I have recommended the program to my friends, two of which entered their children into the daycare as well. This program absolutely prepares your child for kindergarten and offers the flexibility of attending just pre-school activities in the morning or full-day care. My child attends full-time, and the afternoons become more of a day care setting.
Teachers are certified, and the owner is highly involved in the community and attends early childhood education seminars. We recently had a parent-teacher conference that gave me great ideas on how to enhance my son's budding skills at home.
My child began in Wee Wonders preschool program when he was about 3 1/2 years old. He will be in the pre-school program until he graduates at age 5. Infant and toddler care is also offered at the center.
There have been a few field trips: one to the local pet store, one to the pumpkin patch in the fall, and one to the movies. Children/parents who completed a book-reading challenge attended the movie for free.
